Wendy's Introduction

My name is Wendy Burcham and I am pursuing a Master's degree in elementary education. I am from a small town called Carroll County nesteled right at the base of South West Virginia. My favorite subject in school varied depending on the year and the teacher between English and Science. One of my biggest personal accomplishments would have to be achieving a 4.0 GPA throughout my undergraduate career. If my house were to go up in flames, I would have to save my rings. All my rings have stories and meanings and have been passed to me through multiple generations. They mean the world to me. I don't think I could pick just one record to be the soundtrack of my life. It would have to be one of the old mixed CDs from my high school days. I like so many different types of music, it would be hard to pick just one genre.

After working at a small summer camp, I realized I had a bigger passion for education than I did for any other field. After my second summer at camp, I decided to pursue and education degree, but made the decision to first finish my BBA and then go into the graduate program. I truly believe education is the best outlet for enacting world change, and I would love to play a role in this process. I am hoping to teach in an elementary school and am leaning more towards 4th grade within the upcoming years. Family has always been one of the most important things in my life. I hope within the next 10 years I can start a family of my own. I'm also very driven by my work ethic, so in 10 years I hope I have a career I can be proud of and truly enjoy.
