Top Sleep Training Methods: Which One Works Best

A very common question asked by many after you deliver your baby is about his/her sleep. This is because many have suffered from this kind of situation and are curious about others' experiences too. However, in early days, it's very common that a newborn wakes up frequently, like every three hours only to feed and again go back to sleep. But with time their duration of sleeping reduces a little and their wake time gets a bit longer than when starting and it's very normal and extremely healthy for your child. But with time, when the baby grows, his/her sleep time and duration must be trained in a way that develops a routine that suits you and doesn’t bother you at all. When your baby is 4 months plus, it's time to adopt sleep training methods  gradually, to set a good sleep pattern.

A good idea is to notice the sleep trends and themes of the baby, such as how long he/she takes sleep in a stretch, how frequent he/she wakes for the feed, whether he/she is waking up at night time or in the morning. You need to check all those things before introducing a sleep training method. Also we recommend group therapy to the parents suffering from coastal therapy British Columbia sleep issues or mothers who are suffering from postpartum depression.

However, people believe in coastal therapy in British Columbia , as they are a reputed and trustworthy place for therapies. Both good and bad thoughts exist, but now with meditating about your problems deeply, you’ll feel positive, confident and more clear towards your daily matters, for which you were unsure previously.

Here are two very common sleep train methods used by parents to put their child to sleep and set their sleeping routine according the way they want.

CRY IT OUT METHOD

This method is simply for parents who are unable to sleep with their baby, neither the baby is sleeping well nor the mother, making the whole night distressful for both. Other people who like to adopt this method are the ones who want their child to sleep independently without taking any help or assistance. Many parents who work at odd times or are unavailable due to their work commitments have to adopt this method for the help of both. This method is nerve-wracking for parents and babies too as the first night without a parent and sleeping on their own is heart wrenching, when you know your child is crying and finding you but you are doing it for their betterment.

Many parents couldn’t take it and stop this. Trust me, the first night is difficult and within a week or maybe less, your baby learns to sleep on its own. Many people mark it's a cruel method, also studies show that this could have some bad impact on the child's mental health, waking in the middle of the night  and not seeing anyone there. I personally feel, this method must be adopted when your child has grown up and can understand things better. Your child needs you in his early days, months and a few years too.

NO CRY METHODS

This is rather a more gentle and less draining sleep training method for both parents and baby. Two types of approaches are considered in this method, where you are advised to pick up and put down the baby. Here you just pick the baby to soothe him/her and then when they stop crying put them immediately down. Holding for longer hours makes the baby more comfortable in the laps rather than in cribs and cot.

Another way of doing this method is by staying in the same room, to comfort the child and keep an eye on them as they fall asleep but move away from the crib further and further each night. However, all the parents and researchers have suggested that try to create a sleep friendly environment in the room that encourages longer hours of sleep for your child. Put darker shade curtains, no noise in the room and follow a consistent routine to attain better results.

However, the downside of this method is that it’ll surely take more time than the rigid methods available other than this, but truly it's worth it.

Summing Up

Adopting a sleep train method usually seems simple but it's advised to go with the method that you feel is right for your baby. Go with intuition and not with wild recommendations as sleep training methods  are slow and demand your patience. If one isn’t working doesn’t mean that you get frustrated and mistreat your child, stop for sometime and restart with another method but with patience.
