Simon Easterby

Meet Simon Easterby, the Welsh rugby legend who has dedicated his life to the sport.
Simon Easterby is a former professional rugby union player who represented Wales 65 times between 1996 and 2008. He captained Wales on seven occasions and was a member of the British & Irish Lions squad that toured South Africa in 1997. Easterby played as a flanker and was known for his physicality, aggression, and ball-carrying ability.
Born in Carmarthen, Wales, Easterby began playing rugby at a young age. He attended Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Myrddin, where he captained the school's rugby team. After leaving school, Easterby joined Llanelli RFC, where he made his first-team debut in 1993.
Easterby quickly established himself as one of the most promising young players in Wales. In 1996, he was selected for the Wales national team and made his debut against South Africa. He quickly became a regular member of the team and was part of the Wales squad that won the Five Nations Championship in 1999.
In 2000, Easterby joined the Scarlets, where he spent six seasons. He captained the Scarlets to victory in the Celtic League in 2003 and was named the Welsh Player of the Year in 2004.
In 2006, Easterby joined the Newport Gwent Dragons. He spent two seasons with the Dragons before retiring from professional rugby in 2008.
After retiring from playing, Easterby became a coach. He was the head coach of the Newport Gwent Dragons from 2009 to 2012 and the Scarlets from 2012 to 2014. In 2014, he was appointed as the forwards coach of the Wales national team.
