Dank Memes to Fill Your Dreams

Have you ever wondered how people on social media, especially Facebook, post new memes? Have you ever wondered where they came from or how they make them? As most people might not know how memes are made, here are some key points that I would like to cover to show how you can make great memes. First, we’ll go over what a meme is, then how you can make some memes easily, and lastly, how writing is used to make them and bring people together.

Writing back before the 21st century was really cool, people were able to send emails across the world and chat with one another even with long distances between them. As the internet evolved so did the way we communicate. Sometimes it would be hard to tell someone a joke by email or text, so the meme invention was born. So what is a meme you ask, well a meme “can be a photo, a video, a person, an animal, a fictional character, an event, a belief, an action, a GIF, a symbol, a word or anything else(Moreau).” Although there are many examples of memes, the most common ones are the photo memes so we will be focusing on those for this writing project. A meme usually has sarcasm in it or over exaggeration of something to make people laugh as you can see in the example below. How hard is it to make some memes? Not as difficult as you may think.

Making memes back in the days when we didn’t have smartphones might have been a hassle or a long process that would take you up to 20 min to make or more. Now in 2017, with just about everyone having a smartphone, making memes can take you 5 minutes’ maximum. For most picture memes, there is of course a picture of the related subject you are talking about and a caption or description of that picture exaggerating your point in a sarcastic manner or similar. To make such hilarious memes there are many apps for your phone that you can use to make them.
