Rory Sloane




Rory Sloane is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Sloane is a midfielder and has been a member of Adelaide's leadership group since 2019.
Sloane, nicknamed "Sloaney", was born in Port Lincoln, South Australia, on February 11, 1988. He is the son of former Port Adelaide footballer Nigel Sloane. Rory played junior football for the Port Lincoln Football Club before he was recruited to play in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) with West Adelaide in 2006.
In 2008, Sloane was drafted to the AFL by the Adelaide Football Club with the 44th overall pick in the 2008 AFL National Draft. He made his AFL debut in round 1, 2009, against the Western Bulldogs. Sloane was a regular member of Adelaide's team in his first few seasons, but it was not until the 2013 season that he became one of the team's best players.
In 2013, Sloane played 22 games and averaged 26.5 disposals, 7.5 tackles, and 6.5 clearances per game. He was also named in the All-Australian team for the first time. Sloane has continued to be one of Adelaide's best players in recent seasons, and he has been named in the All-Australian team twice more (in 2015 and 2017).
Sloane is a versatile player who can play in the midfield or forward line. He is a good tackler and is also a good kick and mark. Sloane is also a good leader and is a member of Adelaide's leadership group.
In 2023, Sloane played his 200th AFL game. He is one of the most respected players in the AFL and is a role model for many young players.
Sloane is also a keen surfer and fisherman. He is married to Belinda Sloane and they have two children.
