Rene Saguisag




Rene Saguisag is a Filipino lawyer, politician, and human rights activist. He is best known for his role in the anti-Marcos movement during the martial law era in the Philippines.
Saguisag was born in Manila on January 19, 1943. He earned his law degree from the University of the Philippines and was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1965. He began his career as a labor lawyer, representing workers and unions in various legal cases.
In the early 1970s, Saguisag became involved in the anti-Marcos movement. He was one of the founders of the Movement for a Free Philippines (MFP), a coalition of opposition groups that fought against the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.
