Notice of Plan Changes

The NSSF (National Survey on Drug Use and Health) is a survey that collects data on the prevalence of drug use in the United States. The NSSF is conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the data is used to inform policy decisions and programs related to drug prevention, treatment, and recovery.
In 2023, the NSSF will be undergoing some changes. These changes are designed to improve the accuracy and reliability of the data, and to make the survey more efficient. One of the most significant changes is that the NSSF will be moving to a new sampling frame. The new sampling frame will be based on the 2020 Census, and it will include more households than the previous sampling frame. This change will allow the NSSF to provide more accurate estimates of drug use in the United States.
Another change that will be made to the NSSF in 2023 is the addition of new questions about vaping and e-cigarettes. These questions will help SAMHSA to better understand the prevalence of vaping and e-cigarette use in the United States, and to assess the potential health risks associated with these products.
The NSSF is an important tool for understanding the prevalence of drug use in the United States. The changes that will be made to the survey in 2023 will improve the accuracy and reliability of the data, and will make the survey more efficient. These changes will ensure that the NSSF continues to provide valuable information that can be used to inform policy decisions and programs related to drug prevention, treatment, and recovery.
