Homeland restaurant

The words “delicious comfort food” usually makes my mouth water. When you go to other countries, the first thing you must do is to try its local food. You must experience the food culture to fully immerse yourself in their culture.
I really do think that food is one of the best things humans have ever created. When I was in one of the other countries for an official visit, I was so excited to dine in at this famous “Homeland restaurant”. It became so famous for its delicious local food. I asked the locals for the address and without a second thought, I took the bus heading to the other part of the city where the restaurant was located. I endured the hour-long bus ride with joy and excitement.
Upon reaching the place, there was a short line of people outside the restaurant. I smiled and lined up to order, thinking that it must be really good to have a line of people waiting outside. I was alone that day and I would like to make friends and meet new people. The people in front of me were a group of students. They said that they are actually frequent customers of this restaurant. I asked them for their recommendations and they all said in unison “try their signature dish, chicken adobo”. And so I did. I ordered one chicken adobo with a cup of rice and a glass of iced tea. I paid and found a seat near a window. There was a huge glass window where you can see the whole kitchen and how the chefs cook the food. It was perfect! I can watch the chefs and my food at the same time.
5 minutes later, my order arrived. It looked so simple, just chicken and rice, but when I took a bite, I was in awe. It was the best food I have ever tasted in my life! The chicken was so tender and the sauce was so flavorful. I knew that moment that all the sacrifices I made were worth it.
I went back to that restaurant every day during my stay and ordered the same dish every time. The chefs already knew me and they would smile every time I enter the restaurant. I don’t think I can ever forget the taste of that dish. It reminds me of my adventures alone in a foreign country. The warmth of the place makes me feel like I was at home. I will definitely go back to that restaurant when I visit the country again.
