Hamish Brayshaw




Hamish Brayshaw is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is the son of Ian Brayshaw and the brother of James Brayshaw.
Brayshaw was born in Melbourne, Victoria, on 28 February 1977. He played his junior football with the Park Orchards Football Club and was recruited to Melbourne with the 21st pick in the 1994 AFL Draft.

Brayshaw made his VFL debut for Melbourne in Round 1, 1996, against the Brisbane Bears. He played 13 games in his debut season and kicked 10 goals. He became a regular member of the Melbourne team in 1997 and played 20 games that season. He kicked 20 goals that season and was named in the All-Australian team.
Brayshaw was a versatile player who could play in a variety of positions. He played as a forward, a midfielder, and a defender. He was also a good goal kicker. He kicked 100 goals for Melbourne in 1999 and 101 goals in 2000.
Brayshaw left Melbourne at the end of the 2000 season and joined the Brisbane Lions. He played 21 games for Brisbane in his first season and kicked 18 goals. He played 10 games in 2002 and kicked 8 goals before retiring from football.

Brayshaw is a popular figure in the AFL. He is a regular commentator on television and radio and is also a columnist for The Age newspaper. He is also a member of the AFL Laws Committee.
Brayshaw is married to Sarah Brayshaw (née Clifford) and they have three children. They live in Melbourne.
