Fast Food Workers Deserve a Living Wage

Do you work hard for your money? If you're like most people, you probably do. But what if your hard work wasn't enough to make ends meet? What if you were struggling to pay your bills and put food on the table, even though you were working full-time?
That's the reality for many fast food workers in the United States. Despite working long hours, they're often paid poverty wages that make it difficult to survive. In fact, according to a recent study by the National Employment Law Project, the average fast food worker earns just $9.50 an hour. That's less than the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour.
It's time to give fast food workers a raise. They deserve to be paid a living wage that allows them to support themselves and their families. After all, they're the ones who make our favorite fast food meals possible. They're the ones who are there for us when we're hungry and need a quick bite to eat. They're the ones who deserve our respect and our support.
Here are three things you can do to help:
  • Support legislation that would raise the minimum wage. There are a number of bills in Congress that would raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. Contact your representatives and let them know that you support these bills.
  • Boycott fast food restaurants that don't pay their workers a living wage. There are a number of fast food chains that have been criticized for their low wages. Avoid eating at these restaurants until they agree to pay their workers a fair wage.
  • Spread the word. Talk to your friends, family, and colleagues about the importance of raising the minimum wage. The more people who are aware of this issue, the more likely we are to see change.
Fast food workers deserve a living wage. They're the backbone of our economy, and they deserve to be treated with respect. Let's all work together to make sure that they get the pay they deserve.
