Drogheda United is a uniquely Irish football club based in Drogheda, County Louth, in the Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1975 and currently plays in the League of Ireland First Division, the second tier of Irish football. Drogheda United has won the FAI Cup twice, in 2005 and 2018, and the League of Ireland Cup once, in 2012.
The club's home ground is United Park, which has a capacity of 3,500 people. Drogheda United has a long-standing rivalry with Dundalk FC, and the two clubs often compete for local bragging rights. The club has also participated in European competition on several occasions, most notably in the 2006–07 UEFA Cup, where they reached the first round. Drogheda United is a community-owned club, and its supporters are known for their passionate and vocal support.
