According to a report from Reuters, Caterpillar dealers are being urged to incorporate more of the telematics data built into the equipment they sell.

According to the report, Caterpillar has given its dealers until the end of the year to create a three-year plan to recapture some of the reportedly $9 billion to $18 billion in lost revenue each year that it believes could have been made had its dealers leveraged the technological data at its disposal.

Cat CEO Doug Oberhelman has warned that should a Cat dealer fail to meet the revenue goals within these plans, that dealers may have their dealership agreements revoked, though Oberhelman characterized this step as a "last resort."
