''Aoife Johnston inquest: What happened?''




On November 15th, 2022, the inquest into the death of Aoife Johnston began. Aoife was a 21-year-old woman from Ballymena, Northern Ireland, who died in March 2021 after taking her own life.

The inquest heard evidence from Aoife's family and friends, as well as from medical professionals who had treated her. The evidence revealed that Aoife had been struggling with mental health problems for several years, and that she had been admitted to hospital on several occasions in the months leading up to her death.
