Anzac Day march: A poignant and powerful experience

Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, commemorating the anniversary of the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) troops on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey during the First World War. The day is also used to remember all Australians and New Zealanders who have served and died in all wars and conflicts.

I have always been fascinated by the ANZAC story, and I have always wanted to attend an Anzac Day march. This year, I finally had the opportunity to do so, and it was an experience that I will never forget.

  • The atmosphere was electric. Thousands of people lined the streets, cheering and waving flags. The air was thick with emotion, and I could feel the weight of history all around me.

The march itself was a moving experience. I walked alongside veterans of all ages, from young men and women who had served in recent conflicts to elderly veterans who had fought in the Second World War.

  • It was an honor to walk alongside these brave men and women, and I was humbled by their sacrifice.

I also had the opportunity to meet some of the families of the fallen. These families have lost loved ones in war, and their stories are heartbreaking. However, they are also stories of courage and resilience.

I learned a lot about the ANZAC spirit on Anzac Day. The ANZACs were a group of ordinary men and women who did extraordinary things. They fought for what they believed in, and they never gave up. Their story is one that we should all remember, and it is a story that should inspire us all.

If you have the opportunity to attend an Anzac Day march, I encourage you to do so. It is a powerful and moving experience that will stay with you long after the day is over.
