Born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, Red Beard (Sean Klongerbo) has deep roots in the North Shore and a passion for preserving the wild beauty of Northern Minnesota. In 2018, he ventured to Grand Marais to work on fire mitigation projects along the Gunflint Trail under the Firewise USA program. This experience sparked a love for wildfire mitigation, which led him to pursue specialized training at Lake Superior College for wildfire programs. From there, Red Beard expanded his skills, learning tree climbing, rigging, and eventually acquiring advanced equipment like the Kubota U55-5 excavator with a Biojack grapple shear and the Mobark M12 R dual infeed chipper.
